Honey Paws is dedicated to protecting breeding dogs and ending the cruelty of puppy mills so that we create a better future for dogs everywhere.
Who We Are
Through sustainable fundraising and awareness, Honey Paws supports animal welfare organizations dedicated to the improvement or eradication of puppy mills.
We operate as part of Greater Honeycomb, a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit, with a focus on creating simple, effective ways to generate funding and expand their impact.
The Story Behind Honey Paws
Following World War II, demand for family pets grew rapidly across the United States. To help meet that demand, commercial dog breeding expanded into a large-scale industry. Over time, some operations evolved into high-volume breeding facilities that prioritized production over animal welfare, housing breeding dogs in facilities that were never designed for their long-term care.
Today, the commercial puppy breeding industry is estimated to generate more than $1 billion annually1, yet much of it operates out of public view. We believe it is one of the most secretive and troubling industries in the country, with countless breeding dogs spending their lives in overcrowded cages, receiving inadequate veterinary care, and being bred repeatedly with little regard for their health or well-being.
Our goal is not to eliminate responsible dog breeding or the industry itself. We believe dogs deserve humane treatment, proper veterinary care, and living conditions that put their welfare first. By raising awareness, encouraging higher standards, and supporting stronger oversight, we believe meaningful change is possible.
At the same time, rescue organizations work tirelessly to rehabilitate, rehome, and advocate for these animals every day. But they can’t do it alone.

Dogs have hearts and feelings, just like we do. They deserve to be treated with care, comfort, and compassion throughout their lives.
Creating Lasting Change
Ending puppy mill cruelty requires more than rescuing dogs after the fact. We work to address the problem from multiple angles, together creating a future where fewer dogs need rescuing in the first place.
Influencing Better Laws
We work with state legislators to encourage stronger animal welfare laws that improve conditions for breeding dogs, increase transparency, and hold commercial breeders to higher standards.
Strengthening Oversight
Laws only make a difference when they’re enforced. Honey Paws supports stronger oversight and encourages agencies such as the USDA to consistently enforce existing regulations and hold facilities accountable.
Building Awareness
Informed consumers can help change the industry. By educating families about puppy mills, responsible breeding, and adoption, we hope to reduce demand for inhumane breeding practices and encourage more compassionate choices.
